Meet the Staff

Katie Carter, Executive Director
Katie has been Executive Director of Komen Columbus since 2001. As a devoted and determined leader, Katie has been closely involved with the incredible growth of our local affiliate and has been a crucial part of the Komen Columbus Affiliate team. Whether it is her key involvement in the Komen Columbus Race for the Cure (she has been a part of 7 races) or her on-going, year-round efforts with Volunteers, Sponsors, Grants, Education, and more… Katie is always there and willing to do whatever it takes to make a difference.
Katie lost her Grandmother to Breast Cancer many years ago, and only six months after starting to work with Komen Columbus, her Aunt was diagnosed. Katie’s Aunt is a Survivor and a true inspiration. These close family ties have led to Katie’s tremendous passion for working with Komen Columbus Volunteers and Survivors.
Katie holds an Undergraduate Degree from Capital University, as well as a Graduate Degree, Masters in Public Administration, from Ohio University.
Katie and her supportive husband David, who is a dedicated Komen Columbus Volunteer, and son Grant live in Westerville.
“I get to make a difference, in the battle against breast cancer, everyday… I love what I do,” says Katie.

Jill Keasel, Fundraising Coordinator
Jill Keasel seems to do a little bit of everything for the Komen Columbus Affiliate. “Wonderful” is how she describes all of the volunteers with whom she works. Although she loves her job, she hopes that one day she will no longer be needed, because a cure for breast cancer has been found.
Jill received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at The Ohio State University. Prior to joining Komen Columbus, Jill served as Manager of a meetings department for an educational publishing company. Currently, she resides in Clintonville with her husband Scott, twin sons Liam and Seth, and her dog Gibson.

Danielle Wampler, Affiliate Administrator
Danielle Wampler began work as Komen Columbus’ Affiliate Administrator in August 2007.
After completing a three-month internship with Komen Columbus in the spring of 2007 and seeing the fruits of her weeks of labor during the race in May, Danielle was thrilled to learn a new position had become available at the Komen Columbus office.
“We spent so much time on that one day and being able to work with the volunteers and the survivors and to see it come together the way it did,” Danielle said, “I knew that was something that I wanted to be a part of more than once.”
Danielle handles the office’s external communication as well as works with breast cancer survivors and volunteers throughout the year to further Komen Columbus’ mission of ending breast cancer forever.
The Cincinnati native graduated Cum Laude from The Ohio State University with a degree in Mass Communication in June 2007. She lives in Columbus.
