COLUMBUS RACE REMAINS LARGEST RACE FOR THE CURE IN THE COUNTRY

Individual fundraising increased

COLUMBUS – The 26th annual Komen Columbus Race for the Cure, which took place on Saturday, May 19, is once again be the largest Komen Race for the Cure in the United States.

  • 21,627 participants registered for the Komen Columbus Race for the Cure (the largest Komen Columbus Race for the Cure in the United States)
  • More than 1300 survivors participated in today’s event
  • $1.7 million was raised to support local breast cancer programming for underserved and underinsured women and global research
  • Team Lizstrong, led by our honorary chairs Liz and Nick Miesen, raised $44,255, the most of any Columbus Race for the Cure team ever.
  • Team Aerotek and Checksmart Finanicial were our top corporate teams, both raising $27,000
  • Individual and team fundraisers surpassed the affilate’s fundraising goal, raising $1.76 million, an increase of 14% over the 2017 fundraising amount
  • More than 500 corporate, civic and individual teams participated — including the largest corporate team in the world, Team L Brands with 9,314 team members
  • More than 200 A.D. Farrow Harley Davidson riders comprised Thunder Tunnel over the Broad Street Bridge
  • Approximately 500 volunteers helped put on the Komen Columbus Race for the Cure
